LETTER: A new chapter for MakerSphere’s Woodshop and more
June 27, 2025
To the Community:
MakerSphere, Waterbury’s community nonprofit art and maker organization, is thrilled to share a major update about the future of our woodshop. In late May, we reached out to our community for support to help keep this vital part of our organization alive – and you responded. Thanks to your enthusiasm and support of the Town of Waterbury, our woodshop will soon have a new home at the former ambulance building owned by the town! We will be signing the lease soon and will begin our move to the new space on July 1.
While our previous location at Ted’s Kar Kare offered a dynamic space for creativity and craftsmanship, we’re looking forward to the opportunities our new location will bring. We’re deeply grateful to the Town of Waterbury for making this exciting transition possible. Beginning July 1, woodshop classes and memberships will pause as we prepare the new space and plan new classes and projects to launch in September. We can’t wait to welcome you back with a fresh lineup of offerings in our newly organized woodshop.
In addition to this exciting move, MakerSphere is also expanding to Brookside Primary School. Beginning in September, elementary-aged students will be able to participate in after-school art programs right on campus, allowing them to spend more time creating and requiring less transportation.
Meanwhile, the stained glass studio will move into the Green Mountain Seminary building on Hollow Road, sharing space with the clay studio. This shift will give our stained-glass members a more spacious and dedicated place to create.
We remain incredibly thankful for the ongoing support from our community. If you’d like to help sustain MakerSphere’s mission of fostering creativity, learning, and community through the arts, please consider becoming a sustaining donor. Your ongoing contributions ensure we can continue offering dynamic programs and accessible creative spaces for all.
Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us grow.
