CReW marks ‘no muck’ flood anniversary at Thursday’s Concert in the Park

July 9: This post was updated with new details.
Thursday is July 10, a date that carries the dubious distinction of having been the occasion for the past two years when Vermont — and Waterbury — were hit with devastating floods.
Pulling for a dry forecast, Waterbury’s long-term flood recovery group, CReW, would like to mark the anniversary and salute all who helped with the response and cleanup over the past two years.
On Thursday night, CReW will be serving up ice cream, cookies, games and a raffle at the Rotary Club’s Concert in the Park at Rusty Parker Memorial Park on South Main Street. Concerts run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. with several food trucks typically in attendance.
This week’s band on the schedule is Raised by Hippies, who have a 1960s-70s vibe. Rotary organizers will make a call by 1 p.m. regarding whether the concert will proceed as there are storms in Thursday’s forecast.
If needed, CReW says the July 24 concert will be the rain date.
Sending aid to Texas
In the wake of the devastating July 4 floods in Texas, several long-term recovery groups around Vermont are collecting supplies to send to those working on the flood response in Texas. CReW shared a list of supplies. They can package if necessary. Suggested items:
Rolled in a towel, zipped in a 1 gal. resealable bag: towel, wash cloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, bar soap, comb, band aids, lip balm.
Packed in 1 gal. resealable bag: (3) 4 oz. bottles of hand sanitizer, 1 box small trash can bags, bar soap, unscented flushable wipes, (6) laundry detergent sheets (packed in plastic bag)
Non-perishable food items: (suggestions) energy bars, electrolyte powder, meat sticks, jerky
