Got art? Consider a swap at Axel’s

You’ve heard of ski swaps and bike swaps, but Axel’s Gallery and Frame Shop has a different twist on that theme coming up: an Art Swap.

Gallery owner Whitney Aldrich says to think of it as part pop-up art gallery and part treasure hunt. Along the way, people can let go of their “pre-loved art” that they’re ready to part with for others to pick up at a fraction of the original cost. The goal is for everything at the swap to be reasonably priced, with buyers and sellers going home either with new-to-them art, or cash or Axel’s store credit.

Here’s how it works: Sellers can drop off up to three submissions per person. The artwork must be created by someone other than the seller. Only artwork in good condition will be accepted.(No stains, rips, holes, mold, or damaged pieces).

Prices cannot exceed $200 per item. Sellers will receive either 100% of the sale price in store credit or 70% of the sale price in cash. Drop-off dates and times are Wednesday-Friday, May 14-16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sale happens May 21-24. Anything not sold must be picked up on May 24.
