Valley Players to hold auditions for October play, ‘Blithe Spirit’

The Valley Players will hold auditions Aug. 3 and 5 for their fall production of the play “Blithe Spirit” by Noël Coward.

Auditions will happen Sunday, Aug. 3, at 4 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 5,  at 6 p.m. at the Valley Players Theater, at 4254 Main Street (Vermont Route 100) in Waitsfield.

Auditions are open to all; no experience is required. The format will involve cold readings from the play’s script – no monologues, and British accents are not necessary.

This production of the three-act 1941 play “Blithe Spirit” is reimagined “in dazzling black and white,” according to the audition announcement. Its styling will harken back to 1940s cinema with every element from costumes to makeup embracing the elegant world of old Hollywood.

The story: When a séance goes sideways, one man finds himself haunted by not one, but two wives. “It’s a supernatural comedy full of charm, chaos, and vintage glamour.”

Directed by Shannon Sanborn, the show will run October 10-26, with weekend performances Fridays through Sundays at the Valley Players Theater.

More information is online at valleyplayers.com or email Sanborn at shannon@valleyplayers.com.
