LETTER: What’s next for disaster preparedness
July 15, 2025
To the Community:
July 10th didn't pass by without stress, worry, and rain. While we are keeping our neighbors in the NEK in our thoughts (link to volunteer at the bottom of this post), we are also so very grateful that Waterbury made it through the day without any emergencies.
The Rotary concert and CReW celebration were the perfect way to end the day. Thank you to all who organized and attended!
What’s next? The Natural Disaster Preparedness Committee is looking for preparedness and response volunteers! Two main needs exist right now:
Volunteers who can join 1-2 meetings annually for training and/or planning
Volunteers interested in helping out *now* with administrative work, including inventory research and organization; graphic design (Canva, Adobe); database research and implementation, etc.
Learn more and sign up using this online form. If you have questions, please email me at dani.kehlmann@waterburyvt.com.
Finally, if you are interested and have the capacity to help volunteer efforts in the Northeast Kingdom in helping after the flooding they experienced on Thursday, you can find the details online here.
