LETTER: Calling all flood-response volunteers, past, present & future

June 23, 2025

To the Waterbury-area Community:

The Waterbury Natural Disaster Preparedness Committee would like to invite all past, present, and future flood preparedness/response volunteers to a pizza party and informational meeting on Wednesday, June 25, at the Dac Rowe Park pavilion, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

As many know, Waterbury relies heavily on its volunteers to assist in flood response. That reliance has increased in recent years as floods and the damage they bring have become more frequent. Given the uncertainty of future federal disaster relief, it’s especially crucial that we organize a standing crew of trained local volunteers that the community can rely on.

On Wednesday, join familiar faces and new neighbors in celebrating past efforts while learning about open volunteer roles and ongoing preparedness needs in the community. Come to learn more about how this important effort is getting organized. Add your name to the list as a helper for when help is needed again. Training will be offered in subsequent meetings.

If possible, please use this online signup to reply so we have a good count for pizza and beverages. And if you are interested in learning more about volunteer roles, but you cannot attend this gathering on Wednesday, send an email to Dani.Kehlmann@waterburyvt.com.
