Registration is open for youth teams around the region to sign up for the 12th World Soccer Festival on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Montpelier High School.

The annual event for youth soccer players in grades 3-8 will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizer Emmanuel Riby-Williams hails the event as “a celebration of global youth, culture and community through soccer, the beautiful game.”

Young players form 3-4 member teams representing various nations around the globe. After a parade of nations, teams play a round-robin of short 3v3 games. The day also includes an adult exhibition game with Vermont players who have international roots.

The festival theme is served up with the addition of food vendors, music by the Brazilian street band Sambatucada from Burlington, face-painting and more.

Registration is $50 per team. Each player gets a flag of the nation their team represents.

More details and registration are online at worldsoccerfestival.org. Email worldsoccerfestival@gmail.com with any questions.

Last year, the festival attracted 28 teams. See coverage of the 2024 World Soccer Festival in the Times Argus here
