Carol Lee Erwin, 1958–2025

Carol Lee Erwin, 67, passed away at her home in Waterbury Center on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Born on January 15, 1958, in New London, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Jackson G. and Louise (Stoodley) Merrill. In 1992, she married Reginald P. Erwin in Waterbury. They renewed their wedding vows on September 20, 1998, in the Waterbury Congregational Church. Reginald predeceased her on September 26, 1998.

Carol grew up in Sutton, New Hampshire. She is a 1977 graduate of Kearsarge Regional High School. After high school, she met her husband and, in 1980, moved to Waterbury. She traveled with Reggie as they worked as long-distance truckers. She later worked as a sous chef at the Ye Olde England Inn in Stowe and then at Ben & Jerry’s in Waterbury.

Carol enjoyed arts and crafts projects, coloring, sewing, and doing jigsaw puzzles. Her biggest joy came from spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Jeremiah Erwin and his wife Jamie, of Waterbury Center, Josh Erwin and his partner Mya, of Craftsbury; five grandchildren, Reggie, Gemma, Alys, Sage, Heaven; two stepsons, Shane and Jarrett Erwin; a special adopted son, Christopher Couture of Barre; as well as extended family. She was predeceased by two sisters, Georgia Merrill and Gail Guernsey.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, June 21, at the Waterbury Congregational Church, 8 North Main Street, Waterbury, at noon. To send online condolences, please visit perkinsparker.com
