Obituary: Carol Therese Miller

June 17, 1952 – May 31, 2025

June 9, 2025

Carol Therese Miller was a great wife, teacher, and community leader. She was born June 17, 1952, and she died on May 31, 2025. She came from a large Indiana family: eight brothers and sisters and eight nieces and nephews.

She started her career in 1980 at the University of Vermont after graduating from Purdue University with a PhD in Social Psychology. She was an assistant professor on grant funding when she started. After numerous publications and an active research career, she became a national expert in her area of social stereotypes and a full professor at UVM. She retired in 2018 and became an emeritus professor.

Her community activity included time on the Waterbury Planning Commission and the Waterbury Selectboard. She received the Keith Wallace Award for community service in 2006.

Around the house, she's had lots of horses and built a barn and arena for them.

She always arranged our vacations and hired contractors, including a house painter, gardeners, window cleaners, field mowers, and house cleaners.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waterbury Roundabout, online or by check written to Vermont Journalism Trust (with "Waterbury Roundabout" on the memo line), P.O. Box 626, Waterbury, VT 05676.
