Marcia Dill. 1950-2025
Marcia Dill (née Thurston), 75, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, in Morrisville, Vermont. Born February 5, 1950, in Burlington, Vermont, she was the daughter of Donald and Eloise (Marshall) Thurston.
Marcia graduated from Harwood Union High School in 1968. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her Vermont roots and carried with her a strong sense of family and tradition.
She was the proud mother of four children: Heidi and husband Glenn Dwyer of Morrisville, Vermont; Janet and husband Patrick Andrews of Fairfax Station, Virginia; David and wife Camille Dill of Missoula, Montana; and Linda and husband Kevin Neely of Prineville, Oregon. Her legacy continues through her eleven grandchildren: Gabe, Paul, Lena, Madeline, Joe, Chris, Nate, Claire, Jay, Scarlett and Ray, and four great-grandchildren: Demi, Johnny, Blaise and Patrick. She also is survived by her brother Don and his wife, Cindy Thurston of Williston, Vermont, and seven nieces and nephews: Jason, Justin, Summer, Sage, Sam, Ashley and Jessie.
Marcia had a remarkable gift for conversation. She was known for the ease with which she could strike up a dialogue with anyone. Her favorite topic was always her family—she never missed an opportunity to share stories about her children and grandchildren. Her pride in their lives was evident in every word she spoke.
A passionate collector at heart, Marcia found value in preserving memories through the things she saved. Whether it was a keepsake from a family trip or a handwritten note from a loved one, she cherished the tangible reminders of life’s moments. Her interest in genealogy reflected this same devotion to memory and connection; she spent countless hours researching the family’s history to ensure that future generations would know where they came from.
Marcia was predeceased by her parents, her nephew Chris Thurston, and her brother Dean Thurston. Their memories lived on through the stories she told so vividly.
Her life will be honored at a memorial service held at Maple Street Cemetery in Waterbury Center on Friday, July 25, at 1 p.m. A reception celebrating Marcia and her mother-in-law, Helen Dill (who passed in November 2024), will take place at the Waterbury Center Community Church on Saturday, July 26, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made in her memory to Meals on Wheels of Lamoille County.
May Marcia’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
